APW - Ball Hamilton, Ball's Standard Superior Grade, Grade 936, 17J, 18S, gold-filled OF original case, "Webb C. Ball, Cleveland O." marked white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, bull's-eye pattern nickel damascene, s#6019. A very rare watch, the Grade 936 "Ball's Standard Superior Grade" was the earliest marking for Ball that was made by Hamilton and from study of known examples and review of the factory ledger it appears that approximately 80 of these were made. This particular serial number is listed in the Hamilton ledger as being a July 9th, 1894 sale to Webb C. Ball. CONDITION: Mvt: Ticking sluggishly, overhaul recommended...

Mvt: Ticking sluggishly, overhaul recommended, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some fine and micro-fine scratches, regulator spring is a somewhat larger replacement; dial with edge chipping between 12 and 2 of which a portion is concealed by bezel, very small edge flake and hl at setting lever, two hls below seconds-register, very faint hl at 8; excellent hands, spot of oxide on spade of minute; case shows ample wear, a few dings around perimeter of rear, engraving detail substantially reduced, only minimal bits of engine turning remain evident, wear to brass to much of band and pendant; tight bow, crown shows ample wear and has lost its jacket (outer layer); good glass crystal.
